Lately, Currently.

It's been a little while since I last wrote, but so far, January has been good to me.  Life is moving by at a rapidly flying pace and right now, I feel like the stars are aligning...  it's a nice feeling and I'm going to do everything to keep the momentum going.  I really like you so far, 2014!

This past weekend was really nice...  I worked on Friday, then came home and hung out with the husband.  Saturday morning, we drove down to look at an apartment (!!!) just south of O'Hare.  Our initial impression was positive, and we made plans to come back and check out the interior the next day.  Later that afternoon, I drove down to Woodfield to spend a few hours with one of my oldest friends, K., and it was wonderful!  She and I have known each other since we were 17, roomies at speech camp, and have more or less grown up together. Anyway, we got lunch and walked around the mall for a while, catching up and talking about the future.

For dinner that night, I went with the family to Bob Chinn's for a mai tai and filet mignon (both of which were delicious, to say the least!).  Yesterday, Sunday, I worked a morning shift and then drove back down to the apartment for the open house... and immediately fell in love.  More to come on this soon, but we decided to apply and hopefully we'll here back sooner rather than later.  I am so incredibly excited for this potential opportunity, and I really hope it works out!

Borrowing this new little feature from Sometimes Sweet... I figured this would be a fun way to document what's going on in my life every so often.

Currently...
[Reading] One of my resolutions for 2014 is to read more, and I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of following that (even despite how busy I have been!)  I recently finished The Silver Linings Playbook by Matthew Quick, and while it took me a little bit to get into it, I really liked it by the end!  I recently purchased a bunch of free classics on my Kindle, and I'm looking forward to perusing them.

[Doing] Keeping very busy at work and loving every second.  I just started half marathon training and needless to say it has been a little bit daunting.  I am not discouraged, though, and I will persevere because I really want to make this a reality.  I am also dreaming of our vacation in May, and looking forward to warmer and sunnier weather.  I hope it shows up sooner rather than later.

[Thinking about} The future, half marathon training, what kind of car I might buy.  Among other things.  It's a new year and the potential is endless!

[Watching] Girls--I am in love, for real.  Happy to have caught up in time for season 3!  We're also rewatching Breaking Bad, which is nothing short of a masterpiece.  Also, the newest season of Archer just started, and well, it's always been a favorite.

[Feeling thankful] Over the last few weeks, I have had opportunities to spend time with some of my favorite people, and even though we're spread out all over the world, I am grateful for everything that they bring to my life.  I am grateful for good conversation, good food, and lots of laughter.

[Loving] Days off with the mister, who is currently cooking up an epic breakfast to go with his Founders Breakfast Stout; the silence of 4:30 in the morning; daydreaming about decor and bedspreads and placemats because you guys, we're so close to having our own place again and it is amazing; getting back into writing again and doing some editing.

  2. You know what is crazy? The blog Sometimes Sweet is actually written by an English teacher that used to teach at my high school! I never had her class though! Crazy that you follow her blog though. Small world.
