Home, and Saying Goodbye

Sooner rather than
later, we'll be saying
our goodbyes to #17.
The last 10 months
have flown by faster
than I thought they
would--but that's just

life.  I know neither of
us is particularly sad
to be leaving (there are
much better prospects
ahead), and there are
many things we would
change if we could, but

I will always be grateful
for these hardwood floors,
the beautiful afternoon light,
and the opportunity to grow,
and love, without abandon, in
a space belonging only to us,

and that is a bright and shining
point on a dark shoreline.
